Overview

Our camp is set up seasonally (June - March) and caters for up to twenty guests in nine tents of which two are family tents. Gerard Beaton and his partner Jackson Ole Looseyia developed this experience and today remain heavily involved in supporting the experienced Kenyan managers Clea and Conway. The management is backed by a team of professional Masai safari guides and camp crew that have worked together for many years. Together they provide our guests with an in depth and truly memorable Masai Mara experience that remains true to its setting. This eco-camp is ideally situated for the annual migration, which is the movement of over one million wildebeest and two hundred thousand zebra from the Serengeti through the Masai Mara in Kenya. Every year the camp is broken and removed for two months to allow the bush and the many wildlife neighbours to return to the site leaving a fresh and recovered wilderness for the next season.

Clea and Conway are second generation Kenyans who bring a deep understanding of the Mara and the country a whole. The fresh energy and expertise has allowed Rekero to unlock new ways to enjoy not just the fine river bank setting but also the extraordinary wilderness that surrounds it.

Rekero Tented Camp is situated at what is recognised as the prime site within the Masai Mara game reserve, close to the confluence of the Mara and Talek River, ten minutes from the main Wildebeest crossings during the migration. The camp overlooks large pools populated with hippo and crocodile, and offers some of the finest big cat viewing in Africa.

Rekero Cottages are located in the Masai Mara Conservation area (part of the Serengeti Mara Ecosystem) adjacent to the Reserve in an area away from mass-tourism. Rekero Cottages are comfortable and yet rustic, overlooking a natural waterhole in the scenically beautiful Kipeleo range of hills, above the Aitong Plains.
